Former Michigan football player Rashan Gary is on the move after being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.

Last week, Gary posted a goodbye post on Instagram, as he was expected to be released by the Packers, after being selected by Green Bay in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. The post was deleted, but he ended up on the move anyway.

Gary, who played defensive line for the Wolverines, became an EDGE for the Packers. He was a Pro Bowl selection, but his career took a turn after an ACL injury. Gary had 9.5 sacks in 2021, when he started for 16 games.

However, the next season, Gary had six sacks in nine games before suffering a season-ending injury. He returned in 2024 and finished with nine sacks, but had just 7.5 in each of the past two seasons. The former Michigan football standout struggled down the stretch in 2025, which led to his trade to the Cowboys for a fourth-round pick.

For Dallas, it's essentially a one-year rental. If Gary struggles, the Cowboys can release him without any cap penalties. When Gary is at his best, he can be one of the best EDGE rushers in the NFL, although he has struggled to find his form post injury.

Another first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Devin Bush, also found a new home this week, signing a three-year deal with the Bears. Bush left the Steelers after the 2022 season. He played for Seattle for a season before landing in Cleveland.

In 2025, Bush had a resurgent season, being credited with 63 tackles, three interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns with the Browns.
