We are coming up on the end of the spring transfer portal window for college football. Before it closes, Michigan football could suffer some departures and had another player enter the portal on Wednesday, Kechaun Bennett.
Bennett is a 6-foot-4 defensive end who signed with Michigan in the 2021 class after being ranked as a four-star recruit by the 247 Sports composite rankings (No. 342 overall).

Appeared in 28 games over 4 seasons at U-M, mostly on special teams. Made 6 tackles in his career and blocked a punt that set up a score against Minnesota last season.

Bennett never made a big impact though, playing in just 28 games in four seasons. Most of the action that he saw with the Michigan football program was on special teams. He had six career tackles but did block a punt against Minnesota last season.
There is clearly talent with Bennett and I would expect him to land on his feet. It might not be a with power-4 program, but hopefully, he can find an opportunity to play on defense.
That just wasn't going to happen this season with the Michigan Wolverines. Sherrone Moore said on Wednesday that the Wolverines have the best EDGE group in the country. The defensive line is right there too, so it was going to be tough for Bennett to see the field.
It was hard to see Bennett playing over guys like Derrick Moore or T.J. Guy or Cam Brandt. He's not really big enough to contribute on the interior, and might have been on the bubble for the 105.
Not all four-star prospects work out. Bennett didn't with Michigan, but maybe the grass will be greener on the other side.
