Kyle Whittingham is going to find out what a real rivalry looks like tonight. The Holy War might be turned up, but it's not Michigan-Michigan State.

Whittingham did hit the nail on the head this week when he called it the "Super Bowl," especially for the Spartans. At least he understands how they treat the game, and hopefully, he understands how important it is to win this game, especially after a 5-3 start.

Fans might forgive some of the losses this season, but a loss, especially to this Michigan State team, will not be forgiven. Looking ahead to a must-win game, particularly for Kyle Whittingham, here are the odds and our final prediction.

Michigan's defense should dominate, the running game, too?

The Spartans have one of the worst offenses in the Big Ten. They are 16th in the Big Ten in passing yards in conference games and 17th in rushing, averaging 2.7 yards per attempt.

Michigan football might have an offense that struggles to score points, but it's much better than Michigan State. The Spartans QB1 is questionable, while QB2 is out, along with RB1 and RB2.

The Wolverines have been ravaged by injuries, especially on the offensive line. However, Michigan State has lost its best player on offense and defense, to injury. Jordan Hall is out at linebacker, and running back Cam Edwards is out for the season.

Rod Moore will be back in the lineup, along with Dom Nichols and John Henry Daley. Moore will help tighten things up on the back end of the defense. Michigan football also won't allow two plays of more than 50 yards this week.

Expect the Spartans to pull out all the spots. There could be some trick plays, but the Wolverines are the better team. They are healthier, and although the Spartans are better coached under Pat Fitzgerald, it feels like the talent gap is too wide.

You never know, though. Crazy things happen in this rivalry. Yet Whittingham needs a win, and Tommy Carr might be a freshman, but he's got enough moxie to win this game.

Score prediction: Michigan 24, Michigan State 10
