The college football is getting closer, which means fans will be able to see their favorite stars soon. For Michigan fans, they will get to see their new head coach in action. Before then, fans will get to not only see their new head coach, but hear from him and a few young Michigan stars during Big Ten Media Days.
This is the big event before the players take the field for fall camp, followed by the 2026 season. This year, Big Ten Media Days will take place in Chicago, Illinois and fans will be able to watch all the fun on The Big Ten Network. Sessions start on Tuesday, July 28, and will run through Thursday, July 30, with different coaches taking the stage every day.
Michigan fans may not pay too much attention until the final day, when Kyle Whittingham will be joined by his host of players. The players joining Whittingham this week are as follows:
- QB Bryce Underwood
- RB Jordan Marshall
- DT Trey Pierce
Bryce Underwood will be the first Michigan QB at Big Ten Media Days in years
When it comes to Big Ten Media Days, Michigan has typically prioritized sending seniors who were typically also captains as the representatives for the Wolverines. That means that from the time of 2015 to 2025, only one quarterback made an appearance with Michigan, that being Cade McNamara back in 2022.
For the first time in four years, a quarterback will travel to Media Days with the Wolverines, and Bryce Underwood is the one to break the streak. Underwood is not the only young star to head to Chicago with Whittingham, as redshirt sophomore Jordan Marshall will also make the trip.
The two players made quite the duo last season and will hope to continue that trend this season, potentially even adding a third star into the mix with freshman running back Savion Hiter. The run game is in good hands at Michigan this season with two elite running backs and a mobile quarterback, but fans will hope to hear more about the pass game from Underwood.
Underwood has actually been under some fire this offseason, with a lot of people talking about his game. The loudest was former Utah star and player of Whittingham Eric Weddle, who said he wouldn't be surprised if Underwood wasn't starting the whole season.
Now, Underwood is going into a season just like freshman year, one where he will have a whole new coaching staff and some different weapons around him. Fans are expecting a lot from Underwood this season, especially with the amount of money Michigan is spending on him. He may have some tough questions to answer, but they are important ones for the Wolverines fanbase.
