Elliot Cadeau throws subtle shade at Duke that Michigan fans are going to love

The Michigan guard certainly isn't hiding his disdain for Duke, and he might have just given them some bulletin board material.

Michigan guard Elliot Cadeau has a lot of experience hating the Duke Blue Devils, having played at UNC for two seasons. The rivalry between Duke and UNC is one of the most hated in sports history, especially on the hardwood. Both programs have battled for the top spot on the court for years, but now Cadeau has an excuse to hate Duke on a different team.

Cadeau made the move to Michigan before the 2025-2026 season and has certainly been a key member of the No. 1 Wolverines. Averaging 10.1 points this season and 5.5 assists, Cadeau has helped Michigan take a big step forward this year to become a true national contender.

Now, the No. 1 Michigan will take on No. 3 Duke in what is probably one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. This is a huge game for both teams, who have had impressive seasons up to this point. Cadeau is coming off a big 17-point game vs. No. 7 Purdue, and in a post-game interview with the Field of 68, he took a shot at his old rival.

Elliot Cadeau takes a shot at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium before monster Duke matchup

Michigan was able to take down No. 7 Purdue on its home court Tuesday night to give the team the right kind of momentum heading into the Duke matchup. After the game, Cadeau was asked about the environment at Cameron Indoor Stadium compared to Purdue's environment, and he did not miss a beat, throwing some shade at the Blue Devils.

"I'd say Cameron [Indoor Stadium] is more intense just because of personal reasons, the rivalry, but I think this place is louder than Cameron," Cadeau said.

Cadeau has played in Cameron Indoor Stadium twice as a UNC player, so he certainly knows the intensity of the rivalry. However, to say that the Boilermakers' environment is louder certainly won't be something Duke players and fans take lightly.

It is probably safe to say that Cadeau won't get a very warm welcome to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, but that could just fire up the star guard and the rest of his squad.
