The Michigan basketball national championship has to taste especially sweet for Elliot Cadeau.
Just one year ago, North Carolina kicked Cadeau to the curb. On Monday night, after scoring 13 points and dishing out 10 assists in the Final Four win over Arizona, Cadeau was named the Most Outstanding Player after 19 points. He only had one assist, but made eight of nine free throws.
Following that performance, he didn't waste any time firing back at North Carolina, which didn't want him, allowing him to enter the portal after the season.
Elliot Cadeau gets last laugh with North Carolina
“They said I couldn’t do it, they tried telling me I was ass," Cadeau said on a livestream.

Dusty May knew better. He had a vision, and Cadeau brought it to life.
As soon as Cadeau entered the portal, Michigan went after him. He was the guy that May wanted to have the keys. There was plenty of criticism with that addiiton, but it was genius. May gave Cadeau the trust he needed to be a good shooter, and even if he wasn't, he gave Cadeau enough confidence that defenses had to respect his shot.
And when defenders have to close out on him, they don't have a chance. He got the bucket at will against UConn, and for the record, shot 37.8 percent from three in the NCAA Tournament, with three different games with three makes.
He scored almost 1/3 of Michigan's points, and in the game it turned out to be the Wolverines needed every single one.
Cadeau made one of just two 3-point makes for the Wolverines and got UConn's guards in foul trouble. That forced the Huskies to go deeper into their bench, while also getting Michigan all those extra free throw attempts.
In a game filled with NBA talents, Cadeau was the most important player on the court, something that has to be hard for UNC fans to accept.
Just like it had to be hard to watch him win a national championship.
