Everything is going right for Michigan basketball right now, and on Tuesday, the Wolverines got another big win without even stepping on the court.

That's because Dusty May, who has been stellar on the recruiting trail, landed another big-time prospect, his second of the 2026 class, thanks to the commitment of Lincoln Cosby, a 6-foot-9 forward who just re-classified from the 2027 class.

Michigan basketball lands 5-star caliber commitment in 2026

247 Sports has Cosby at 6-foot-7. Rivals has him ranked 22nd overall via its Industry rankings, and he is listed at 6-foot-9. Either way, he's regarded as more of a wing than a post. He played two seasons for the Overtime Elite and currently plays for prep powerhouse Monteverde.

Cosby is dynamic in transition. He can score in the post, and is a versatile player on both ends of the flloor, who sounds a little like Yaxel Lendeborg if you read this scouting report from Eric Bossi of 247 Sports:

"Cosby has held firm in the Top 10 since the 2027 rankings were introduced. He's another long, slender, and versatile forward looking to establish his identity. An elite mover with a fluid offensive game, Cosby needs to learn to be more physical and use his tools to bring the fight to the competition. When he's rolling offensively, Cosby's 6-foot-8 size makes him a real problem."

Cosby will be rehabbing an ACL injury, according to Alejandro Zuniga of 247 Sports, when he arrives in Ann Arbor, but since he's re-classifying, there's no rush to play him.

Cosby said the way Dusty May used Danny Wolf, and Yaxel made Michigan feel like a great fit. The injury could put him in line to redshirt next season, but spending his next season with the Wolverines instead of a high school program should only help his development.

Either way, the commitment of Cosby gives Michigan two top-50 players overall and three in the top 100 along with Quinn Costello, a McDonald's All-American.
