A win in East Lansing over a top-10 Michigan State team on Tom Izzo's birthday. Does it get much sweeter than that for any college basketball team, much less for the Michigan Wolverines?
After a highly stressful back-and-forth until the last few minutes of the top-10 in-state rivalry match-up, the No. 3 Wolverines walked away with the win. While the game was as exciting as possible, one of the most notable moments came from the sidelines and before tip-off actually happened.
Dusty May immune to student section heckling
Michigan head coach Dusty May was sitting on the bench as the Wolverines warmed up, and despite most seats in the arena being empty, the Michigan State student section was filled to the brim, directly behind May's seat.

As the students jeered and shouted in May's ears, all the Wolverines' leader could do was smile. Why wouldn't he? His team was 19-1 overall and had clinched the No. 3 spot in the national standings.
Of course, as the game went on, his view became a little more stressful as the Spartans outscored the Wolverines in the second half. Yet, he never broke his composure as the Michigan State crowd continued to give him their absolute worst.

At the end of the day, Michigan flew (or maybe even drove) home with an 83-71 victory in its back pocket, improving to 20-1 overall and 10-1 against Big Ten opponents. Meanwhile, the Spartans dropped to 19-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play.

Sorry, Izzo, maybe you can get a better birthday present next year... as long as Michigan State doesn't play May and the Wolverines, that is.

Up next, No. 3 Michigan is set to take on the unranked Penn State Nittany Lions, who have yet to clinch a conference win this season. The Wolverines and the Lions are scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Feb. 5, and the game will be aired on FS1.
