Dave Portnoy celebrates Bryce Underwood flip as only he can
Not long ago, Dave Pornoy, the Michigan football fan who is the CEO of Barstool Sports, told Michigan football fans that "he was working on it."
Meaning he was working on the quarterback position. Portnoy talked about paying millions of dollars for the Wolverines to land a transfer portal quarterback.
But in the end, Michigan football ending up getting even better. After weeks of pursuit, which became very public, the Wolverines were able to flip Bryce Underwood, the 6-foot-4, 218-pound quarterback from Belleville, Michigan, who is ranked No. 1 overall in the 2025 class. He's also the top-ranked quarterback and is tied for the highest-rated commitment in U-M history with Rashan Gary.
Portnoy was part of the reported $12 million NIL package. So was Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle, who just so happens to be one of the richest people in the world. His wife is a Michigan graduate and he got a shoutout from the Champions Circle for helping this come together.
Portnoy said he knew it was happening though. Yesterday morning and last night, the Barstool CEO and Michigan superfan gloated on social media as only he can.
"QB No. 1. No. 1. Not in the town. Not in the district. Not in the state. QB1 In the country. Recruit No. 1 in the country. We don't do four-stars at Michigan. We do five-stars. No. 1 recruits. We do national champions. I told you."
Portnoy went on to explain that he was involved in a call with the family. He also trolled some on of his colleagues who are Ohio State fans.
The next month and the next few seasons are going to be fun. The rivalry is back on.
