The Michigan Wolverines are off to a solid start to their basketball season with a 3-0 record, but it hasn't come without a few close calls. The Wolverines absolutely owned Oakland with a 121-78 win at home in front of the faithful crowd.
The next two games, however, are where the trouble began as Michigan had to go to overtime in order to take down Wake Forest 85-84 and then only beat TCU in Fort Worth 67-63. Luckily, the Wolverines were able to come away with wins on both of those games and keep their undefeated record alive so early in the season, but clearly the AP poll had its thoughts on Michigan's performance.

The Michigan Wolverines were ranked No. 6 before these close calls against Wake Forest and TCU, but the AP poll felt that Dusty May and his squad didn't deserve to hold that spot. The close calls had Michigan slipping to No. 7 in the rankings, which isn't a big slip, but a slip nonetheless.
May and his squad right now are set to face seven ranked teams in eight games this season. A lot of those won't come till late in the year when they face a lot of ranked Big Ten teams. Michigan is one of six Big Ten teams currently ranked in the Top 25, with the Purdue Boilermakers back at No. 1.
The Wolverines are set to play a few easier opponents this next week, with only one matchup against Middle Tennessee before the next new rankings come out on Monday. That night, Michigan is set to take on San Diego State, but their biggest game so far this season against their first-ranked opponent will come against No. 22 Auburn on Tuesday, November 25.
