CFB analyst suggests insane punishment for Michigan football

CBS college football analyst Josh Pate is suggesting an insane punishment for Michigan football in wake of the NCAA investigation into advanced scouting.

CBS Sports analyst Josh Pate believes that Michigan football should get a multi-year postseason ban as a result of the investigation into advanced scouting by Connor Stalions

Just to be clear, a multi-year postseason ban, for a bunch of minor violations (outside of failing to cooperate in the eyes of the NCAA) is insane.

This would be a death penalty. There would be a mass exodus to the transfer portal, and for what? Because Stalions did (scout) what was perfectly legal until 1994?

Personally, I think Pate is still mad because he picked Penn State, Ohio State, and Alabama to beat Michigan in 2023. Only to be wrong, like he will be about the Michigan punishment.

Is it surprising that he's taking this stance? No. He's a big-time SEC homer and probably kneels before an enshrined photo of Nick Saban, the true morality of college football.

This is in the news of course, after it was reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel, that the Michigan football program was going to self-impose a two-game suspension on head coach Sherrone Moore.

Michigan fans are outraged, as they should be. Sherrone Moore turned over text messages, which were deleted before an investigation was even opened, and the information was still provided to the NCAA.

Moore is only facing suspension because he is a "repeat offender" after being found of wrongdoing in the "Burger Gate" saga. So buy a kid a burger, watch a workout over zoom, then turn over text messages, which were only deleted on his phone (backed up), and you're a serial offender.

Never mind all the bags Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia have dropped over the years. The Buckeyes weren't even shy about breaking NCAA rules in the Jeremiah Smith recruitment.

Why? Because the NCAA only cares about certain offenders. At any rate, the investigation into Michigan football hasn't garnered much wrongdoing, except a bunch of penalties for not cooperating.

The advanced scouting rule, if it was even broken, is a minor violation. All of Michigan's violations are minor. They are just being trumped up, because it's the NCAA.

And it's Michigan and people like Pate, love to hate Michigan.
