Gameday Recipe: Philly Cheesesteak

Ingredients

Ribeye steak, bell peppers, onion (yellow or red), provolone cheese, sandwich roll of your choice

Cooking instructions:

Cheesesteaks are a great gameday meal because they're delicious. Follow these easy steps.

1. Slice your ribeye into thin pieces. 1/4 inch thick or so. It helps to freeze the ribeye for a little bit before slicing to make it easier. Season with little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper.

2. Cut up your bell peppers and onions. Cut into long thin strips. Use however much you want. I like to taste my peppers and onions so I tend to use a healthy amount. If you want a little spice, feel free to add jalapeno as well.

3. I like to use a cast iron on a grill to cook my cheesteak. Start your grill and put the cast iron on top. Add your peppers and onions first to let them cook down. Add a few chunks of butter in the middle of the veggies to add flavor. Once the veggies are soft, add the ribeye steak on the other side of the cast iron. Add butter to the side of the steak as well for flavor. Once the steak is cooked through, mix the steak and veggies together. Add the provolone cheese to the top of the veggie/steak combo and let it melt down. Add as much cheese as you desire. I like mine on the cheesier side.

4. Place everything in between your roll of choice. I like either a sesame roll or a Cuban roll. Pair with potato chips or fries and you're ready to eat!

Beer of the week

Jai Alai IPA

Jai Alai is a delicious IPA brewed by Cigar City Brewing. It has a hint of orange that balances it's malty flavor and bitterness. Cigar City Brewing is based out of Tampa, Florida. Jai Alai has an ABV of 7.5% so it is on the heavier side but it drinks a little lighter than that because of its delicious flavor.

Prop bet of the week: Donaven McCulley over 43 yards receiving at -115

I like this bet for three reasons. The first reason is that Donaven McCulley has clearly impressed the Michigan football coaching staff and his teammates throughout summer, spring ball, and fall camp. He will be wearing the coveted #1 jersey for the Wolverines, which is not given out to just anybody. He is a big body receiver that also has big play ability.

The second reason I like this is that New Mexico will be starting a completely new defensive backfield with five transfers, all coming from different schools. This group may end up being a solid unit by the end of the year. However, I like Michigan's odds for a successful passing attack during a Week 1 game in what will surely be a difficult environment for the New Mexico secondary.

Reason number three I like this is because of Bryce Underwood. Underwood is going to give Michigan a legitimate threat through the air this year. I think Chip Lindsey will get Bryce comfortable early with easy completions and eventually stretch the field with some deep shots. For these three reasons, I like the over on McCulley receiving yards this week.
