Beers, Bets and Bites for Michigan Football vs Texas

The Wolverines are in Orlando to take on the Texas Longhorns in the Citrus Bowl this week. We have a gameday recipe, beer and a prop bet for you as you watch the final game of the year for the Michigan Football team.

Gameday Recipe: Pulled pork sliders

Ingredients: Pork shoulder (size will depend on how many people you are feeding), mustard, barbecue seasoning, Hawaiian rolls

Recipe:

1. Slather your pork shoulder with mustard as the binder. Once your pork is covered with mustard, put a coating of barbecue seasoning on the meat. Do not be afraid to put a healthy amount of seasoning on the meat.

2. Pre-heat your smoker to 225 degrees. Place your pork in the smoker and plan on having it in there for about 18 hours. One of the keys I have learned while smoking pork shoulder is that less is more. Do not spray your meat or really touch it at all really in the smoker. Let it sit in there and absorb all the smoke it can. The meat is finished when it reaches an internal temperature of 195 degrees.

3. Take your pork out of the smoker and immediately wrap it in foil. I like to add some butter on top of the pork before I wrap it. Plan on letting the pork rest for at least an hour before you shred it.

4. Lastly, shred the meat and serve on Hawaiian rolls. Possible additions on the sliders are onions, jalapenos, cheese and coleslaw.

Beer of the Week: Sun Crusher from Revolution Brewing Company in Chicago. Sun Crusher is an ale with an ABV of 5.3%. It has citrus notes but is not sweet. It is a delicious and refreshing beer. Perfect to drink if you are in Orlando for the game sitting in the sunshine.

Prop Bet of the Week: Michigan team total over 2.5 total touchdowns at +120

There are not a lot of player props available for this game. However, when I was looking over the available bets, this jumped out at me immediately. We have heard this week through interviews and soundbites that the Michigan offense is going to be opened up and aggressive. Steve Casula will be calling plays, and when Bryce Underwood was asked if he is looking forward to the new gameplan, he smirked and said he was in a way that makes you think he knows it is going to be different than we have seen all year.

The Michigan offense only has one opt out (El-Hadi) that we know of so far. Jordan Marshall has been practicing with the team and looks to be ready to go. The forecast looks to be perfect for the game, so that will not be an issue. There has been a lot swirling around this team the last few weeks, but ever since the announcement of Kyle Whittingham, the vibes feel very positive. I think the Wolverines come out playing loose and motivated and put three or more touchdowns on the board. Go Blue.
