Beers, Bets and Bites for Michigan football vs Northwestern

Michigan football travels to Chicago to take on the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field in a Big Ten showdown this weekend. Chicago is one of, if not the best, food city in America so it is only right that we give you a recipe for something good to eat while you watch the Wolverines take on the Wildcats.

Gameday Recipe: Mini Chicago Style Hot Dogs

Ingredients

• 1 egg, 1 Tbsp water, 1 package puff pastry sheets thawed and cut into long triangles, 12 oz mini all beef hot dogs, 12 oz sport peppers, drained and patted dry, celery seed for sprinkling, poppy seeds for sprinkling Sauce, ¼ cup Dijon mustard, 3 Tbsp mayo, sweet relish.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Whisk egg and water together until homogeneous for an egg wash. Set this aside for a little bit. Place a hot dog and a sport pepper at the base of a triangle of dough. Roll up snug but not super tight. Place on the prepared sheet tray seam side down. Repeat with all the dough. Egg wash the pastry of each and sprinkle with a touch of celery salt and poppyseeds. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden. It’s possible that the sport pepper can kind of pop out a little from the pastry as it bakes, but not to worry! Just pop them back in place right when they come out of the oven. While they bake, prepare the sauce. Mix everything for the sauce together (mustard, mayo, relish) in a small bowl until combined. Serve hot dogs warm from the oven with the dipping sauce on the side. To stay true to Chicago: never serve with ketchup!

Beer of the Week: Gumball Head from 3 Floyds Brewing Company

Gumball Head is one of my top two favorite beers in the world. It is a delicious American Pale Ale with an ABV of 5.6%. This is a beer that you can find almost anywhere in the Midwest and you will definitely find it in the bars in Chicago if you are going to the game.

Prop Bet of the Week: Jordan Marshall over 110 rushing yards at -123

Northwestern's defense has not been great against the rush so far this year. They rank 99th in the nation, giving up 4.7 opponent yards per rush, and 68th in the nation, giving up 152 opponent rushing yards per game. Jordan Marshall is coming off a 185-yard and three-touchdown performance against Purdue two weeks ago before the bye week. Michigan's offensive line was recently named a semi-finalist for the Joe Moore award, and they seem to be finding their groove a bit. They are a young group, and you can see the steady development from the beginning of the year until now. I think this game will be closer than some people are expecting, and Marshall will be called on for important carries during drives late in the third quarter and into the fourth. Jordan Marshall carries the load and leads Michigan to a win on the field and in our bet. Go Blue!

P.S. I also Like Andrew Marsh over 50 receiving yards at -116 and Jasper Parker anytime touchdown scorer at +240.
