Recipe: Smoked ribs on charcoal grill

Ingredients: Ribs (we like St. Louis style) barbecue rub, barbecue sauce, mustard, butter

Recipe:

1. Start by giving your ribs a good coating of mustard as the binder. Once they are covered, sprinkle on your favorite barbecue rub. Give your ribs a nice, healthy portion of seasoning.

2. Preheat your grill to about 350 degrees. Make sure you have your charcoal and wood chips all on one side of the grill. The ribs will be placed on the opposite side from your charcoal.

3. Put the ribs on the grill and let them sit for about an hour. After an hour, give them a spritz of your favorite mixture. I like to use a mixture of apple cider vinegar and beer. Let them sit for another 30-45 minutes and then take them off.

4. Wrap your ribs. You can add any flavor enhancement you want to your ribs. I like to add butter and a tiny bit of brown sugar. Put them back on the grill, bone side up. Let them smoke for another hour and a half or so. They should be ready to take off by now, but you will want to do the bend test. Grab them in the middle with a pair of tongs and they should bend below the tongs. If they do, unwrap them and brush your favorite barbecue sauce on them. The bones should be sticking out by now!

5. Place your sauced wings back onto the grill for 20 minutes. They should have an internal temperature of 195-203 degrees. Let the ribs rest for 30 minutes and then you are ready to dig in and enjoy!

Beer of the week: Barbarian Haze IPA

Barbarian Haze is a delicious hazy IPA with an ABV of 6.5%. It has a strong malt foundation to balance the hoppiness of the beer. The aromas of grapefruit, papaya and pineapple work together to create a delicious beer to pair with your ribs! One of the many great beers out of 3 Floyds Brewing.

Prop bets of the week: Hogan Hansen over 19.5 receiving yards at -115, Jordan Marshall over 42.5 rushing yards at -115 and Trey Butkowski 2+ field goals made at +160

We have three prop bets for you this week. The first one I like is Hogan Hansen over 19.5 receiving yards. It was refreshing to all Michigan fans' eyes last week to finally see a tight end with a big play when Hansen hauled in a drag route for a big gain in the third quarter.

Hansen is somebody who I have always thought has so much potential if they can get the ball in his hands. Tommy Carr is going to find him for easy completions and I think he has enough wiggle to pick up good yards after the catch. Indiana's pass defense ranks 57th in opponents yards per pass and 67th in opponents pass yards per game. Look for Hansen to make an impact in the passing game tomorrow.

The second bet I like is Jordan Marshall over 42.5 rushing yards. Indiana has a stellar rush defense that is ranked top 10 nationally. However, I get the feeling that tomorrow is going to be an old-school slugfest. Those are the types of games that Jordan Marshall thrives in. I look for him to grind his way past 42.5 yards and cash this bet.

The last bet I like is Tre Butkowski connecting on two or more field goals tomorrow. Tre is 4/4 on field goals this year and 16/16 on extra points. It is going to be difficult to score on this stout Indiana defense, but I think Michigan will have opportunities. Points are going to come at a premium, and Michigan will gladly take field goals when they have to. Butkowski will connect on two or more crucial field goals to help lead Michigan to victory. Go Blue!
