The 2026 college football season has officially begun, but the first full slate of games is set for Week 1, and just because football is back doesn't mean there won't be plenty of recruiting news. Michigan is set to host multiple visitors during some of its biggest games this season, and its Week 2 matchup vs. No. 10 Oklahoma just got another five-star visitor.
Wide receivers coach Micah Simon has been working hard on elevating the pass-catching talent for the Wolverines, stating at one point that he would love for Michigan to have an air-raid offense, but he needs elite receivers to do so. Well, elite receivers haven't always chosen Michigan, but Simon seems to have caught the eye of 2028 five-star Deandre Bidden.
The Michigan native announced he will visit Ann Arbor during the Wolverines' Week 2 matchup against the Sooners, and Michigan needs to impress.

Kyle Whittingham needs to find a way get in-state talent to Michigan, starting with the Class of 2028
Micah Simon is doing his part in trying to keep in-state talent at Michigan. Deandre Bidden hails from the same school as 2027 five-star WR Dakota Guerrant, a big miss for Kyle Whittingham in his first recruiting class at Michigan. Not only did Guerrant not pick Michigan, but he committed to Oregon, a Big Ten rival.
Bidden would be a huge get for Michigan, not only being a five-star recruit- something Whittingham did not have in his 2027 class- but also keeping elite talent within state lines. Just like Guerrant, 247Sports has Bidden at a "warm" interest level for Michigan and Oregon, and the Wolverines have to be feeling some deja vu.
Along with Michigan, Bidden has received 29 other offers and is ranked No. 30 nationally and the No. 7 receiver in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Simon has stayed in close contact with Bidden, especially after multiple visits to Ann Arbor, and now he will get to show the five-star talent what game day is like with Michigan.
Bidden won't be alone in the Big House with other recruits like four-star offensive tackle Mataio Fano, four-star edge rusher Major Stokes, and five-star offensive tackle Antijuan Wilkes Jr., joining him with game-day visits of their own. These are some elite recruits who will be in town for Whittingham's first big test at Michigan's new head coach.
With the struggles that Whittingham had getting in-state talent to commit to Michigan, he has to find a way to make that change for the Class of 2028.
