An elite defense
Michigan should have one of the best defenses in college football. Even after the departures of Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, the defensive line is loaded.
Sherrone Moore said that defensive line goes 10 deep, and he didn't even mention four-star freshman Nate Marshall, a top-50 overall recruit.
Derrick Moore and TJ Guy might be he best pass-rushing tandem in college football. Just watch the bowl game. They dominated. Rayshaun Benny did, too. Tre Williams and Damon Payne will add enough that the defensive line drop off won't be as noticeable as expected.
The linebackers with Jaishawn Barham and Ernest Hausmann, plus Cole Sullivan and Jimmy Rolder waiting in the wings, are as good as any group Michigan had during the Harbaugh era.
Cornerback depth is a concern. So is the health of Rod Moore. But the front seven is good enough, and Wink Martindale, after adjusting to college football, is good enough to protect those guys.
We'll see how that plan works against Ohio State, but it's hard to see many teams scoring more than 20 points on Michigan football this season.
