Will Johnson forces a turnover

You need your elite players to step up if you want to beat a ranked opponent on the road. Will Johnson has had some incredible moments this season with two interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Yet, he didn't have his best day against Washington. He didn't get targeted much, but he also didn't make much of an impact.

When Johnson gets his chance, either on a pass thrown his way or on a tackle, even on a blitz, it feels like he's due to force a turnover.

Charles Woodson, the guy Johnson is always compared to, had a knack for making a big play right when it was needed for Michigan football. Johnson needs to channel that energy on Saturday.

Michigan vs. Illinois prediction

The bold predictions usually paint a rosier picture for Michigan. But this feels like a crossroads. Come out and kick butt and the Wolverines have life.

Struggle and lose and the Wolverines are playing just to make a bowl game. That would be a huge dropoff from the national championship. It's already been a dropoff but losing back-to-back games would be a new low and I don't see it happening.

Give me the Wolverines to win and cover.
