Not many Utah athletes have jumped ship yet when it comes to entering the transfer portal. However, that will change with the portal opening in a week. Coach Kyle Whittingham has some special talent that he leaves behind, but he will gladly accept them at Michigan if they wish to follow his lead to Ann Arbor. Quarterback Devon Dampier has a year of eligibility left, but Bryce Underwood is priority No. 1 on everybody's board. Here are three other guys who could land in the portal soon, if they don't go pro or stay put in Salt Lake City.
Caleb Lomu-Offensive Tackle
Lomu is eligible for the NFL Draft and is considered to be a top-tier tackle on most boards. Factor in what Michigan's tackles decide to do themselves, and it will make the decision a difficult one for Lomu. He did not surrender any sacks in over 800 snaps at tackle in 2025 and hasn't missed a game in two years, while starting. Both Evan Link and Andrew Babalola are both coming off the injured list, plus Blake Frazier has thrown his name in the mix on the left side of the line as well.
John Henry Daley-Defensive End
Henry Daley sacked opposing quarterbacks 11.5 times in 2025. He's another player who can go pro or follow Whittingham to Michigan football if he chooses that route. Henry Daley is being projected as a day three pick as of December. He did not play in the season finale because he suffered a non-contact lower leg injury, so he may not be ready for the September deadline. He graded out at 92 overall on Pro Football Focus in his breakout season. Three Michigan football edge rushers are already graduating or have declared for the NFL.
Dillon Curtis-Kicker
The freshman placekicker launched a pair of 50-plus-yard field goals in 2025. With Dominic Zvada off to the NFL, Dillon Curtis could step in immediately and presumably win the job. As for Michigan's part, they have to figure out if Kerry Coombs will remain on Whittingham's staff or not to possibly coach him next fall.
