Michigan basketball continues to bowl over the competition and make its case for the No. 1 ranking in the polls. They dispatched of Rutgers in front of a sellout crowd who had nothing to complain about. Michigan is putting fear in its opponents with every blowout win added to its record. Villanova travels to Crisler on Tuesday knowing what could be in store for them, too. Here are some of the takeaways from the direct win.

1. Michigan's field goal percentage has progressively gotten better in seven out of eight games

The maize and blue shot 60% from the court on Saturday night. They went on a tear in the second half from beyond the 3-point line, while Morez Johnson Jr. did most of his damage from inside the paint. Nine Wolverines were above the 50% mark on the evening. They're averaging over 50% shooting in the last five wins, and no one has come close to impeding their relentless attack. Winning isn't supposed to be this easy in any sport.

2. Michigan beat TCU and Wake Forest by five points, since then they've won by 176 points in five games

It wasn't even a month ago when Michigan basketball was trailing at TCU. Since then, they have embarrassed everyone in their path of destruction. TCU, Wake Forest, San Diego State, Auburn, and Gonzaga have all rallied to win tournament-tested matchups and are aiding Michigan's resume for the No. 1 overall seed already. Scoring this many points in five straight outings is the equivalent of an NBA All-Star game kind of outcome.

3. Dusty May is the Curt Cignetti of college basketball

In the same amount of time that Cignetti has brought Indiana to the precipice of the college football pinnacle, May is doing the same thing in Ann Arbor. He is hammering teams and has quickly become the darling of the Michigan brigade. On Saturday he guided the Wolverines to another record-breaking performance that hasn't been seen since the pre-Fab five era. The only hiccup that may be able to stop May's juggernaut is themselves.
