It only took three plays for Michigan's defense to catch a break. Brandyn Hillman punched the ball out of the runner's grasp and Jimmy Rolder picked it up before it could roll out of bounds. Michigan's offense only salvaged three points from Dominic Zvada to unlock the scoring.

Later on in the quarter, Bryce Underwood faked a handoff and rumbled to the perimeter of the field to navigate his way to the end zone. Blocks by Max Bredeson and Jalen Hoffman sprung Underwood to the house. The teammates celebrated by posing like the Paul Bunyan trophy after the play was over.

Michigan State didn't go quietly into the night, though. They got within three thanks to a drive that was developed by a 50-yard dash by Makhi Frazier. Aidan Chiles broke the plane of the goal line later in the possession for six. Penalties cost both schools inside the red zone, with a personal foul on the Spartans, then a pass interference call on T.J. Metcalf that bailed them out.

Justice Haynes came out of the locker room with a vengeance. He took two plays for over 20 yards to get the Wolverines into scoring territory. He produced six moments following the most controversial play of the evening. Underwood was stripped of the ball by an unblocked blitzer who timed the snap a little too early. Malcolm Bell was offsides as the ball was being snapped and the game turned on a dime. The call will be argued by Spartans far and wide for years to come. You decide for yourself below.

Michigan football regrouped and would add to the lead, while Michigan State was searching for answers to stop Michigan's rushing attack. Jordan Marshall provided the dagger to slap the Spartans for being an ungrateful host. Fortunately, there were no postgame scuffles because of the reckless emotions of the sore loss of the green and white.

Here are three of the takeaways from Michigan's punishment of its little brethren from down the road.
