In 23 games, Michigan basketball has scored in the sixties only once. In two losses to Michigan, Ohio State has its lowest point totals of the season. Like almost everyone who has been in Michigan's way this season, Ohio State soundly surrendered the same fate as 20 other teams that have tested Michigan before them. Here are three of the takeaways from a win that put the rest of the Big Ten on notice that Michigan is not to be taken lightly by anyone.
This is Michigan's first win on Super Bowl Sunday in 12 years
The last time Michigan basketball played on Super Sunday, they lost to Indiana. The big game featured Seattle steamrolling Denver by five touchdowns. It was a similar story for Mike MacDonald's crew in San Francisco. In fact, the last time that Michigan logged a win on Super Bowl Sunday, Aaron Rodgers was still a Packer. The Wolverines upended Penn State by a single possession that day.
Aday Mara hit more three pointers, then John Mobley had converted buckets
In the first meeting last month Mobley connected on nine field goals. On Sunday he attempted nine shots and only made one of them. As for Mara, he had the NBA scouts drooling with 18 of his points coming from around the post area. His distance from long range was the pleasant surprise that no one expected. Ohio State simply could not defend him.

Michigan is 27-2 since winning the Big Ten tournament in 2025
Auburn and Wisconsin are Michigan's two losses since last year's Big Ten tournament run. Since then, Michigan basketball got its revenge on Auburn and might get another rematch with Wisconsin to do the same. 27 wins in 29 opportunities is more than Arizona, UConn, St. Louis, and Miami of Ohio have. The above tweet by Ohio State reporter Dave Biddle sums it up best and will never get old as long as Dusty May continues to oblige.
