The transfer portal is about to explode with all the coaching changes and different reasons for players to enter it. Michigan football has to reload with talent at certain positions, and they will have to dish out some cash like the basketball program did if they want to topple the Buckeyes again. Here are three names that could become very popular if they choose to transfer out of their current situations, but have not yet.

Nick Marsh WR Michigan State

Marsh would presumably join Andrew Marsh, no relation, in becoming one of the nastiest combinations in the Big Ten the instant he crosses to the winning side. Nick put up six touchdowns in 2025, which is more than any Wolverine had this season. He will certainly have all lot of suitors if he decides to leave East Lansing. Gotta see whether or not Pat Fitzgerald can retain him or keep him from jumping to an SEC school.

Andrew Olesh TE Penn State

Olesh was a whisker away from choosing the Wolverines during his recruitment in the first place. He didn't play this year, which would be a reason to move on from Penn State. Michigan should have Hogan Hansen, Zack Marshall, and Deakon Tonielli back, but nothing is set in stone in today's free-for-all environment. Olesh would be very useful with how Michigan football uses its tight ends and was the highest-rated recruit of them all. Matt Ludwig is part of the 2026 class as well.

Zahir Mathis DE Maryland

Mathis was one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2025 class. He finished with six sacks and has a high ceiling for more. Mike Locksley was retained, but he's also a coach who is less than a season away from getting the axe in College Park. Coaches will pay big-time money for his services. Michigan can use more pass rush with Derrick Moore off to the NFL and T.J. Guy graduating.
