Howard had Michigan basketball fans in a tizzy for the first half. They were ranting and raving like the sky was falling. That brought out some of the most outrageous overreactions from those on the social networks. Here are three of those overreactions that caused a stir on social media Thursday night.
Howard was shooting like Steph Curry in the first half
Up by 10 early on in the first half is when Howard got hot. Seven 3-pointers in about seven minutes of play had people going crazy on social media. They finished the half with 10 triples and jacked up one before the buzzer went off for intermission. Howard only hit four long balls after the break, and the nerves of many in the maize and blue cooled exponentially. For those wondering, the Bison shot 63% in the first from beyond the arc, while Michigan was at 67% from the field for the entire game.
Content creator Annie Agar revealed that she picked Howard to win in her bracket because she hates Michigan
Known for her viral videos about the NFL, Agar hates Michigan. She tweeted at halftime a graphic of the score with her pick of Howard to win the game. Now it could be just clickbait to raise her engagement numbers, but this isn't the first time she has triggered Michigan fans about their shortcomings. However this one backfired on her, as she did not post anything else about the Michigan breakaway win for the rest of the night.
Fans in the stands were more interested in the VCU/North Carolina ending that they showed on the video scoreboard during the Michigan game
During a break in the action in Buffalo at the Key Bank Center, whoever was in charge of showing the replays or crowd shots on the jumbotron above the court, put on the final seconds of the VCU/North Carolina game and the crowd went nuts. Once the timeout was over they switched it back to the Michigan blowout and boos reigned down from inside the arena. One person tweeted that people were more concerned about their brackets, then the live action they were watching in Buffalo. Either way it was a tease.
