Bryce Underwood doesn't necessarily have to get more receivers involved
Through three wins in 2026, Andrew Marsh and JJ Buchanan have been the primary pass catchers for Bryce Underwood. Salesi Moa is the only wideout outside of those two who has a touchdown on his resume, but it did not come from Underwood. As for the tight ends, they have been virtually invisible and don't have a touchdown reception since the Washington win last season.
It took Marsh a half of a season to get involved in the offense last year and that may be the same case for others this year too. Channing Goodwin was being mentioned as the third receiver in the rotation, but doesn't have a catch yet, while Travis Johnson and Moa could earn more playing time because of their performance against UTEP. That makes this a slight overreaction that should regress as the season marches on.
Defenses shouldn't respect Michigan's deep ball
UTEP crowded the box on Saturday and Michigan never took a deep shot against them. With the way the running game has been struggling to find a rhythm, Michigan football should take more shots down the field to stretch the defense and open up the running lanes.
Right now, this is a factual statement because Underwood doesn't want to let it rip, but eventually Jason Beck will have to throw some bombs to keep the opposing defenses honest. That makes this an overreaction that can be disputed.

Trailing 14-7 to the Miners at home brought out some of the best overreactions from everyone on social media.
Michigan quickly changed that outcome in the third quarter and made them look foolish. However, you can argue that UTEP played better in the first half than Michigan did, but if they don't turn it over on the first drive and inside their own red zone, then this point is an overreaction that becomes moot.
