A deal is nearing to make Kyle Whittingham the next coach of Michigan football. He's a hall of fame coach who possesses a resume that even makes Urban Meyer blush. With that said the speculation will begin about who he will take with him from Utah. Here are a few names who have already been mentioned on social media and other sites.
Jim Harding-Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach
Hill has produced numerous lineman while at Utah with Whittingham. Garrett Bolles is the most noticeable name, while Spencer Fano is projected to be a 2026 first-round pick. Caleb Lomu is the other tackle at Utah who's garnering a lot of attention from draft scouts on being a day-two pick. He also helped recruit five-star Kelvin Obot to Utah, who was on Michigan's radar as well. Harding is a Toledo graduate. Harding has the potential to be a head coach in waiting once Whittingham departs.

OC: Beck
DC: Hill
OL: Harding
TE: Freddie
This seems like a lock, right?
Jason Beck-Offensive Coordinator
This would be a real coup if Beck would follow Whittingham to Michigan. He upgraded the Utah offense in just one season. He was not chosen to replace Whittingham and Michigan football could benefit from that. In the last five outings of 2025 Utah's offense averaged 47 points per game, but only beat one team with a winning record in that span. In the 10 wins for the Utes, they didn't score lower then 31 points in any game. The question is, will Beck be good enough to keep Bryce Underwood in a maize and blue uniform?
Freddie Whittingham-Tight Ends Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Kyle's brother has been with him for a decade at Utah and would be a shoe-in to come with him to Ann Arbor too. Freddie won the 2022 tight ends coach of the year per FootballScoop.com. Utah historically uses their tight ends similar to how Michigan does. Salesi Moa committed to Utah and was in Michigan's crosshairs during the 2026 cycle as well. The Whittingham brothers will surely be checking his availability with the coaching changes imminent.
