J.J. McCarthy vs the Alabama defense

Nick Saban knows that Michigan is a run-first offense. Alabama has the talent to stack eight or nine defenders in the box to close the running lanes.

J.J. McCarthy has to show he can take advantage of single coverage. When teams stack the box and dare you to pass, the offense has to produce first downs and score points.

Simply put, McCarthy has to have his best game of the season to give Michigan a chance to win this contest. Alabama will do everything on defense to stop the run because Blake Corum has asserted his offensive dominance all season. Michigan has to open up the passing game to provide balance on offense.
