Two Michigan football players finished in the top 10 among the Heisman Trophy voting, plus we touch on Dante Moore in our Michigan Wolverines news roundup.

Some priorities are starting to emerge for Michigan football in the transfer portal, although things are still very early.

However, there’s no doubt that one of the Michigan Wolverines’ top targets is former five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who is from Detroit.

Michigan football recruited Moore heavily in the 2023 class, yet the Detroit King quarterback selected UCLA over the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon, and others.

Moore actually flipped his commitment late in the process from Oregon to UCLA. Now, Oregon is one of the teams in the mix for Dante, along with Michigan football, Ohio State, and Miami.

The Ducks are always a team to worry about in recruiting and with Moore, it looks like they are a factor again as On3.com is reporting that Moore will “likely” visit Eugene next weekend.

That doesn’t mean the end of the world for Michigan football. It’s still not great though and of all the quarterbacks available in the portal, Moore might be the best long-term fit.

Two Michigan football players are top-10 Heisman finishers

The Heisman Trophy will be handed out on Saturday night. But on Friday, the 5-10 finishers were announced and two Michigan Wolverines were on the list.

Blake Corum finished ninth in the Heisman voting, marking his second straight top-10 finish. J.J. McCarthy also cracked the top 10 after a stellar season, his second in a row leading Michigan football to a 13-0 mark and a Big Ten championship.

McCarthy would certainly have a great shot at the Heisman in 2024 and be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft if he returns to Michigan next season.

McCarthy completed 74.2 percent of his passes this season to go along with 19 touchdown passes and just four interceptions. He also added three rushing touchdowns and 2,640 passing yards.

Corum wound up with 1,028 yards and 24 rushing touchdowns this season, which leads all of college football.
