In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, there are good vibes with five-star quarterback Dante Moore and a new deal for Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Michigan football is heading back to the College Football Playoff for the third straight year. The Wolverines also just won their third consecutive Big Ten championship and were voted as the No. 1 team in the AP poll for the first time since 1997.

Yes, there is plenty of work to do for the Michigan Wolverines. Winning a national title will mean beating a dominant Alabama team, one that went undefeated in the SEC and just unseated the two-time defending champs on a neutral field.

Make no mistake, Michigan football will have to be at its best. But Jim Harbaugh has also gotten the Michigan Wolverines to this level and he deserves to be paid like it.

There has been talk of positive momentum for a new extension, but things keep getting held up. However, according to John U.  Bacon, a known Michigan Wolverines insider, things have progressed this week between Harbaugh and the contract extension writing on X, “Things are trending positively” after a “breakthrough” this week.

I’ve been advocating for this deal since before the first three-game suspension. Michigan football needs to get it done and secure Harbaugh long-term, which is the most important thing for the Wolverines going forward.

If you get Jim back next season, the drop-off that all the rivals are expecting won’t happen. In fact, it wouldn’t shock me if J.J. McCarthy returned. But you have to secure Harbaugh first.

Michigan football “a great fit” for Dante Moore

The Michigan Wolverines have been in contact with former five-star quarterback Dante Moore, who entered the transfer portal from UCLA earlier this week.

Moore is from Detroit and while the Wolverines didn’t land the five-star out of high school, Michigan and Oregon are the leading contenders for his commitment, and according to 247 Sports recruiting expert Cooper Petagna, it would be a ”great fit.”

Dante Moore’s former high school coach also told Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider that Michigan would be a “perfect fit” for Moore.

He talked about Moore coming from an offense that used the tight end position, as well as play-action passing. Michigan would be great for that, plus after spending a season on the West Coast, coming back to Michigan certainly has some appeal.
