Michigan Wolverines news: Kyle McCord transfers, Michigan football projected for a flip
In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord has entered the portal, plus Michigan football is projected for a flip.
Life comes as you fast as an Ohio State quarterback, especially if you lose to the Michigan Wolverines.
Just more than a week after ‘The Game’ and one day after being eliminated from the College Football Playoff, Ohio State starter Kyle McCord has entered the transfer portal, which is just another sign that Michigan football has broken the Buckeyes.
Certainly, this had something to do with the fact that Ryan Day didn’t commit to McCord as the starter on Sunday. Ohio State is surely looking for an upgrade. Maybe Cameron Ward or someone like that will be the target, but OSU will have a new starting quarterback in 2024.
The transfer portal is also officially open. We’ll see if any Michigan Wolverines players enter, but I don’t expect any head-turning departures. I’d also expect Michigan football to be active in the transfer portal just as they were last offseason.
Michigan Wolverines projected for a flip in 2024
There has been some positive recruiting buzz for Michigan football following its win over Ohio State and that momentum has continued in the efforts to flip 2024 defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale, a USC commitment right now in the 2024 class.
Palepale is a 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive lineman. He’s ranked as a three-star prospect and is No. 787 overall according to the On3 Industry rankings.
Both EJ Holland and Zach Libby of The Wolverine have projected Palepale to flip from the Trojans to Michigan football, which would be a positive development.
The Wolverines are also battling for top-50 wideout Gatlin Bair. He’s decommitted from Boise State and Michigan football is a leading contender along with Oregon.
