5 transfer portal targets that make sense for Michigan football

The transfer portal window is officially open and here are five targets for Michigan football, including former QB target Dante Moore.

Welcome to college football free agency! The transfer portal has officially opened and there have already been some surprising moves as Michigan football rival Ohio State has already seen about 10 players enter, including starting quarterback Kyle McCord.

The Buckeyes also lost Julian Fleming, a former five-star wideout who caught a key pass in the loss for Ohio State to Michigan football. Most of the others are probably looking for more playing time, but there are going to be lots of moves in the transfer portal in the coming days.

Michigan football was active last offseason in the portal. The Wolverines are selective but they have a lot to offer, especially players who can fill certain needs.

Michigan will certainly have some needs to fill with all of its expected losses to the NFL and graduation. With that in mind, here are five transfer portal targets that make sense for the Wolverines.

QB Dante Moore

We aren’t sure if Michigan football is going to need a new starting quarterback next season and won’t until J.J. McCarthy decides what he’s going to do.

However, Dante Moore could be a target either way for the Wolverines. When Moore left UCLA he talked about wanting to be developed. I also don’t get the sense that he has to be guaranteed a starting job right away.

If McCarthy leaves for the NFL, Moore would seem like a good bet to win the starting job. You wonder how adding him from the portal could impact Jadyn Davis, but Dante Moore is a special talent and despite a tough first season, he’s worth pursuing.
