Michigan football won the Big Ten championship for the third consecutive season and here are the gut reactions.

There were plenty of moments over the past month or so when it was fair to wonder if Michigan football was going to repeat once again as Big Ten champions.

However, after watching Michigan football beat Iowa, as ugly as it was at times, it seemed like a forgone conclusion all along.

Jim Harbaugh returned to the sidelines and the Wolverines won 26-0. Most importantly, they are 13-0 and headed toward the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.

Saturday night might have raised some questions, but remember this is Iowa. So I’m not going to fret too much about the offense, which got two Blake Corum touchdowns and four field goals.

The defense was spectacular and forced three turnovers. The Wolverines also didn’t surrender any points.

As Jim Harbaugh always says, there isn’t a place on the scoreboard for style points. The only thing that matters is winning and after the 25th consecutive Big Ten victory, Michigan football is Big Ten champions again, as well as back in the playoff.

Here are the gut reactions to a third straight Big Ten championship!

Gut reactions to Michigan football’s Big Ten championship

  • Blake Corum might be the best running back in Michigan football history.
  • Mike Sainristil was easily the best player on the field. This is a much closer game without him.
  • J.J. McCarthy still isn’t 100 percent.
  • The tight ends dropped way too many passes.
  • Michigan needs to incorporate some play-action stuff more.
  • Semaj Morgan is going to be a superstar.
  • Show me a better defensive line in college football. I don’t believe there is one better than Michigan’s. They dominated Iowa.
  • I’m a little worried about the offensive line. Good thing there is a month to prep for the Rose Bowl.
  • I don’t care about the opponent. If Michigan football plays its best, it can beat anyone.
  • Jim Harbaugh is as good a head coach as there is in college football.
  • James Turner has ice in his veins.
  • Best defense in college football.
  • Go Blue!
