Michigan football beat Ohio State on the field on Saturday, but the Wolverines also made some progress on the recruiting trail.

Winning always helps with recruiting. It’s a fact of life and while Michigan football doesn’t necessarily have the NIL of some of other programs, it’s producing at an elite level.

The atmosphere was electric inside the Big House as Michigan football hosted five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, 2024 wideout Gatilin Bair, a Boise State commitment, and a number of other prospects in 2025 and beyond.

Underwood is the big fish. He’s the top-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class and is from Belleville. He’s been trending with expert projections to LSU, but hopefully, this visit changed things and at the very least, Michigan football made a positive impression.

Michigan football trending for a couple of flips

While there haven’t been any predictions for it to happen, it feels like the Wolverines have a great shot to flip Gatilin Bair. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder out of Burley, Idaho is an elite talent. He’s probably the best athlete in the entire 2024 class.

One caveat is that Bair will be taking a Mormon Mission after high school, so he probably won’t join the program until 2026, but the future is bright and he would be an elite addition to the 2024 haul.

Michigan football is trending to flip 2025 defensive back Marcus Wimberly who is committed to Arkansas. He visited this weekend and joins a slew of other 2025 recruits in getting projected to the Wolverines by EJ Holland, the top Michigan recruiting expert for On3.

Wimberly, three-star tight end Eli Owens, four-star DL Jaylen Williams, four-star offensive lineman Avery Gach, and four-star cornerback Alex Graham are all trending to Michigan football.

So as good as it feels to win ‘The Game’ — the positives aren’t just about going to the Big Ten Title game and having a shot to reach the College Football Playoff, the Wolverines improved their position with a number of top targets and none is bigger than Underwood.
