Michigan football target Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class has been projected to LSU by a U-M recruiting insider.

There’s no doubt that Bryce Underwood is the most important recruit for Michigan football in the 2025 class, but that doesn’t mean that the Wolverines are going to land him.

The five-star quarterback out of Belleville, Michigan, is the big prize in the 2025 class. However, the Wolverines recently took the commitment of four-star quarterback Carter Smith.

Smith is a solid prospect. He’s a dual-threat and he’s ranked among the top 15 quarterbacks in the 247 Sports composite rankings. Yet, his commitment seemed a little premature with the Underwood recruitment still up in the air.

Michigan football reportedly wants to take two quarterbacks in this class, which makes sense. So the addition of Smith shouldn’t have an impact on Underwood.

However, the commitment of Smith might have been due to the fact that it was too late for the Wolverines with Underwood already.

LSU is the favorite for Bryce Underwood

LSU has been one of the two teams to beat in this recruitment, along with Michigan football, but watching Jayden Daniels, it would be hard to ignore that.

Michigan has J.J. McCarthy and the offense has been more pass-happy this season. Yet, U-M is still about running the ball, plus top-100 quarterback Jadyn Davis is expected to sign in the 2024 class, so that could be another reason Underwood isn’t that excited about joining Michigan’s QB room.

Things aren’t over yet. But a couple of experts have projected Underwood to LSU, including EJ Holland of The Wolverine. Holland covers Michigan football recruiting as well as anyone, so his prediction for Underwood to land at LSU is notable.

If Michigan could get Underwood on campus for the Ohio State game, there could be a chance of changing the momentum around. Yet, as of now, LSU appears to be the team to beat.
