5 things to watch for Michigan football vs. Maryland
Michigan football is seeking win No. 11 on Saturday against Maryland and here are five things to watch.
It’s been hard to stay focused on what’s happening on the field for the Michigan football team. There have been tons of distractions due to the NCAA investigation into alleged in-person scouting, which has continued this week.
Jim Harbaugh has a hearing set for Friday to get a temporary restraining order against the Big Ten to prevent his suspension from being in effect during the next two games of the season.
Michigan football already went on the road, after getting the news of the Harbaugh suspension mid-flight, and still defeated a top-10 Penn State team on the road, without throwing the ball a single time in the second half because the Wolverines didn’t have to.
That should be all the evidence anyone needs that Michigan’s success had nothing to do with signs. However, the haters will hate because their teams stink and that’s all they have to comfort themselves at night.
So who cares what a bunch of babies are saying about Michigan football? The Wolverines have another test on Saturday at Maryland in the final game before “The Game.”
Here are five things to watch.
Will Jim Harbaugh be coaching?
I have no idea at this point. Michigan football will be prepared if he’s not. Sherrone Moore will take the reigns again and after his performance in Happy Valley, I have complete confidence in him.
Moore completely out-coached James Franklin, which isn’t hard because Franklin will Franklin, but Moore’s got the better team too, which always helps.
This is another game about survival. I don’t care about style points, scoring margin, or anything else. Just get to the Ohio State game 11-0. That’s all that matters.
There are rumors of a potential compromise between Michigan and the Big Ten which would allow Harbaugh to serve essentially a two-game suspension. But I’m not sure he’d accept it.
We’ll see but it would be great to have him back for Ohio State. That doesn’t mean I’m overlooking Maryland. I’m not. I remember the game last season very well and I’m sure the Wolverines do too.
