Gut reactions to an epic win for Michigan football
Reacting to an epic win for Michigan football over Penn State on Saturday as the Wolverines improved to 10-0 and beat a top-10 team without Jim Harbaugh.
Be careful who you make the villain.
Michigan football was made the villain by the Big Ten this week and they played the role perfectly.
The Wolverines beat up on Penn State. The game was competitive — make no mistake — but the Wolverines controlled the second half and didn’t even need to throw a pass in the second half to win, 24-15.
I’m not sure why the play-calling was so conservative. The offensive line struggled to protect and the running game was working. Blake Corum scored two touchdowns and Donovan Edwards — who had a breakout game of sorts — scored the other.
Two huge stops on 2-point tries made a big difference. Michigan football did allow two touchdowns — and its highest point total of the season. Yet, it was still a championship effort from the defense, against a top-10 team on the road.
Frankly, I feel about this team the way that Sherrone Moore does. Michigan football played for each other and they played for their head coach. It was powerful and here are the gut reactions.
Gut reactions to Michigan fooball win over Penn State
- I LOVE THIS TEAM!
- Sherrone Moore’s post-game interview was the best I’ve ever heard.
- BLAKE THE GREAT — nothing more needs to be said.
- This is a championship defense. It salted away a win, even with the touchdown in the final few minutes. It got the stops it needed to win.
- Donovan Edwards showed up at the perfect time. A great sign moving forward.
- Beating a top-10 team without throwing in the second half is impressive. That was pure man ball and Michigan football proved it can still win that way.
- This team can win in a lot of different ways.
- It’s especially incredible to win as the Big Ten did everything possible to set them up for failure. Tony Pettiti didn’t need to suspend Harbaugh on a Friday, on a holiday no less after he was already on the team plane. He did call ESPN first though.
- Still one more win (Ohio State) and Tony will have to hand over the Big Ten championship to Jim Harbaugh.
- What a night that would be.
- What a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine!
