Michigan football alum Aidan Hutchinson keeps dominating for the Detroit Lions, notching another sack and an interception in Detroit’s win.
It’s not a huge shock that former Michigan football great Aidan Hutchinson continues to dominate in the NFL. Every week it seems, there is a new highlight or milestone.
However, it’s been incredibly impressive to watch and on Sunday, Hutchinson’s greatness was on display once again. In the first half, the former Michigan football All-American and Heisman Trophy runner-up finisher intercepted the fourth pass of his career.
Hutchinson was already the first player in NFL history to have 10 sacks and three interceptions within the first 20 games of an NFL career. Hutchinson now has 14 career sacks for his career, as well as 4.5 this season, in addition to a pair of interceptions.
While the interception was a great play, Hutchinson showed how good he is as a pass rusher too, using a spin move to eventually take down Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. That makes it 4.5 sacks for Aidan Hutchinson in five games.
Beyond his individual achievements, Hutchinson has made a huge difference with the Lions franchise. He’s not alone. The Lions have a tremendous culture but his impact has been notable since Detroit made him the No. 2 overall pick.
A lot of other former Michigan football players are making a strong impression this season, especially the EDGE rushers, but few are having the impact of Hutchinson who is a key part of Detroit’s 4-1 start.
Through five games, he might be the most impactful defender in the NFL. He might be the NFL’s best pass rusher and has two interceptions for good measure.
