Michigan Wolverines news: Ronnie Bell scores first NFL touchdown, and more
Former Michigan football standout Ronnie Bell caught his first career NFL touchdown pass on Thursday night, plus more in our Michigan Wolverines roundup.
Few Michigan football players during the Jim Harbaugh era have done more to win over fans than Ronnie Bell.
Bell was a low-ranked three-star recruit who simply became one of the best wideouts the Michigan Wolverines had in the Jim Harbaugh era and really, throughout the history of Michigan football, ranking eight all-time in receptions at the school with 145.
Bell is also ninth in Michigan football history in terms of total receiving yards. The Michigan Wolverines standout missed the 2021 season due to injury, but roared back in 2022 and was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft by the 49ers, who have gotten a steal.
Bell was stellar throughout the preseason and earned his way onto the 53-man roster. Last night, in his third game, Bell caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy on a third-and-goal, adding another layer to his incredible story.
Bell now has two receptions for 24 yards this season and a touchdown.
Jake Moody continues to be money for the Niners
While Ronnie Bell scored six points for the 49ers on Thursday, another former Michigan Wolverines standout, Jake Moody, was responsible for 12 points.
Michigan football’s former legendary kicker, who was drafted in the third round by San Francisco, is looking like a weapon too. He was 3-for-3 on field goal kicks against the New York Giants, plus he made all of his extra points.
So far on the season, Moody is 9-for-9 on field goal attempts. He’s also perfect on extra points, which are like a 35-yard field goal in the NFL.
Every point matters in the NFL and with the former Michigan football standout, who has ice in his veins, you know if San Francisco needs a big kick, “Money” Moody will step up and make it.
