Take nothing for granted

Michigan sounds like it will be motivated to play without its head coach. Going back to Big Ten Media Days, the Wolverines have said they have the back of Jim Harbaugh.

That means taking care of business while he’s dealing with his ridiculous suspension. Being without the head coach isn’t ideal, in any situation, against any team, but this Michigan football squad is loaded with experience and tremendous leadership.

In other words, the Wolverines should be just fine for this game without Harbaugh as long as they are focused and don’t overlook their opponent.

East Carolina is a Group of Five program but they are on the rise. The American is a solid league, or it has been at least, and the Pirates aren’t going to be a pushover.

The Wolverines have the edge in terms of talent, and experience, but you can’t take those things for granted. The 2007 team did that. It spent all offseason reading about how great it was and then didn’t show up against App State and suffered one of the great upsets in college football history.

Michigan can’t let something like that happen again and as long the Wolverines are locked in on Saturday, it shouldn’t.
