In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Michigan football named six captains for the 2023 season, plus the interim head coach plan was announced.

We are now eight days away from the start of the 2023 Michigan football season and on Thursday, we found out who will coach the first game against East Carolina.

Jesse Minter will be the interim head coach for next week’s game against the Pirates, but the plan announced by the Michigan Wolverines calls for four different interim head coaches.

Miinter will coach the first game. In the second game, Jay Harbaugh will open the game as the Michigan football head coach with Mike Hart taking over duties for the second half.

Sherrone Moore, who will be suspended for the first game, will return to the Michigan Wolverines for game two and will be the interim head coach against Bowling Green.

It’s different that’s for sure, but Harbaugh does his own thing. He has said all of these guys can be head coaches someday and this is an empowering move for sure.

Michigan Wolverines announced six captains

Michigan football announced six senior captains on Thursday as well and all were deserving. J.J. McCarthy wasn’t selected as a captain, because he’s not a senior and wasn’t eligible.

Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan, Mike Sainristil, Michael Barrett, Kris Jenkins, and Blake Corum were selected as captains and as I said, all were extremely worthy. You can’t find a better group than that and all six dudes could be playing in the NFL right now.

However, they all chose to return to Michigan football in an effort to win a national championship and we’ll see if they can achieve it. Either way, this group has a tremendous legacy already in Ann Arbor with two Big Ten championships.

Top Michigan football target projected to FSU

Zaquan Patterson is a top-100 safety that’s announcing his commitment on Saturday and Michigan football is one of the teams in the mix.

The Michigan Wolverines hosted him for two visits over the summer, including the Michigan football recruiting BBQ.

Yet, the prospect from Miami is trending to Florida State according to the On3 prediction machine. Some expert projections have changed things as the Hurricanes were the leader not long ago.
