Michigan football could have a shot at breaking the NFL draft record for picks and have 18 players on the Senior Bowl watch list.

There’s a reason why Michigan football is getting so much buzz as a national title contender. It certainly has to do with the success of 2021 and 2022.

However, Michigan football also has an insane amount of talent going into the 2023 season and another example of it is the 18 players that were selected to the Senior Bowl watch list.

You’ll know many of the names such as Blake Corum, Kris Jenkins, Zak Zinter, Trevor Keegan, Mike Sainristil, Michel Barrett, Makari Paige, Cornelius Johnson, and Roman Wilson, but there are a bunch of others including all three offensive line transfers — Drake Nugent, LaDarius Henderson, and Myles Hinton.

The rest of the offensive linemen picked were Karsen Barnhart, who has been the best tackle in fall camp according to Jim Harbaugh and Trente Jones, making seven O-linemen total.

Tight end transfer AJ Barner also made the Senior Bowl watch list, as did Josh Wallace, who’s looking like he’ll open the season as the No. 2 cornerback after transferring to Michigan football from UMass. Braiden McGregor and Jaylen Harrell are also on the list as EDGE players.

It’s crazy to think about because some of Michigan football’s most talented players aren’t on that list.

J.J. McCarthy, Donovan Edwards, Will Johnson, Colston Loveland, Junior Colson, Rod Moore, Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Rayshaun Benny, Josaiah Stewart, Derrick Moore, and Ernest Hausmann are just some of those names.

That’s probably Michigan’s top 30 players right there — give or take a few — and all of them should eventually be headed to the NFL.

Jim Harbaugh has built the Wolverines back into a powerhouse. That should play out on the field once again during the 2023 season, as well as in the 2023 NFL draft.
