Michigan basketball has never beaten the California Golden Bears

Michigan had some tough times earlier in their history, and the 1960’s certainly weren’t kind to them. Their only matchup to date with these Golden Bears came during that period, during a really tough stretch in late 1961.

The game was played as part of the Far West Classic in Portland, Oregon, with the Golden Bears coming through with a 76-67 victory. The tough loss took Michigan’s record to 1-6, and things wouldn’t get better in the weeks ahead.

While California isn’t in great shape these days as a program, these two teams haven’t played again in the last six decades.
