Michigan basketball has never beaten the Drake Bulldogs

  • Overall series record: 0-2
  • First matchup: December 5, 1959
  • Last matchup: December 10, 1960
  • Last Score: Drake 83, Michigan 72

You may find it surprising, but Drake has found their way onto Michigan’s schedule twice and come away with wins in both games, though these MVC foes haven’t seen the Wolverines for more than half a century.

The first matchup was way back in 1959 near the beginning of a dreadful season for the Wolverines. Michigan finished just 4-20 and in last place in the Big Ten. Drake wasn’t too special that season, but the Bulldogs still spoiled the Wolverines’ home opener with a six-point road win.

They met the following season to finish off the home-and-home, but the Wolverines program wasn’t in much better shape. This time, Drake secured a double-digit win in an 83-72 decision on their way to an impressive 19-7 record.
