In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, a top-100 defensive back is back on the market, Michigan football’s secondary gets praised, and more.

Things are constantly changing when it comes to recruiting and Michigan football has a new potential target on the board in Jaylen Heyward, a former Georgia commitment.

Michigan football has actually been recruiting Heyward in the background according to what EJ Holland of The Wolverine posted on Twitter on Tuesday.

Heyward has been taking other visits this spring. He didn’t make a stop to see the Michigan Wolverines yet, but that’s surely going to be on the agenda if Michigan football plans to make a serious push for Heyward.

As we posted on Tuesday, UCF and Miami have hosted him for official visits this summer. The Hurricanes have hosted the Florida prospect for an unofficial visit too. Michigan football could have a shot but the Michigan Wolverines will need to act quickly.

Still, Michigan football has a lot to sell and Steve Clinkscale is a stellar recruiter, so don’t count out the Wolverines here by any stretch.

PFF suggests Michigan football could have the best secondary in CFB

With the addition of Josh Wallace, Michigan football should have one of the best secondaries in the country next season, which is something Pro Football Focus asked Twitter.

Michigan football has one of the best cornerbacks in the country in Will Johnson. In fact, all five guys have strong ratings from Pro Football Focus last year which includes Josh Wallace.

The UMass transfer is expected to start opposite Johnson, although it’s not a guarantee with Amorion Walker, Jyaire Hill, Ja’Den McBurrows, and others competing for the job.

But here’s what Darrius Clemons told Alejandro Zuniga of 247 Sports about Wallace following his addition to the Michigan Wolverines this summer.

That’s pretty exciting. Then you’ve got Rod Moore and Makari Paige, as well as guys like Zeke Berry and Keon Sabb waiting in the wings.

We’ll see if the secondary proves to be the best in the country, but it’s definitely not a weakness heading into 2023 and that’s something to feel good about.

It’s also crazy to think about the impact of Clink — the guy should be a head coach before long –he’s made that big of an impact on the Michigan Wolverines’ secondary.

More Aaron Scott equipment tracking

Four-star cornerback Aaron Scott was spotted at a camp in Ohio wearing some Oregon gear on Tuesday. Recently, he was seen wearing Michigan cleats, gloves, etc.

It’s crazy but we have been reduced to looking for any clue when it comes to Scott, who has a final top three of Michigan football, Ohio State, and Oregon.

Charles Woodson and also Marcus Ray have been recruiting Scott to Michigan on Twitter. Woodson is famously from Ohio and became quite possibly the greatest Michigan Wolverines football player of all time.

The crystal balls favor Ohio State, but the most recent projection came in April, so this one is hard to read and Michigan football feels like it has a legit shot to pull him from the Buckeye State.
