Another reminder that Michigan Football O-line is insanely deep

Michigan football is super deep along the offensive line but with seven players on the 2024 Senior Bowl watch list, it’s not hyperbole. 

Michigan football lost some valuable starters from last season’s Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line. Ryan Hayes and Olu Oluwatimi were two starters that are gone and seemed like they would be difficult to replace.

Yet, Michigan football figured out the transfer portal and stuck gold with a trio of talented offensive linemen from the Pac-12.LaDarius Henderson from Arizona State is expected to take over the left tackle job that used to belong to Hayes.

Drake Nugent, a multi-year starter for Stanford who was one of the best centers in college football last season, will fill in for Oluwatimi, and Myles Hinton, a former top-100 recruit, who has the talent to play in the NFL will be in the mix at right tackle, as well as a key depth piece.

All three of those guys made the Senior Bowl watch list for the 2024 game according to Jim Nagy who is part of scouting prospects for the game.

However, Michigan football has four holdovers that are going to be on the watch list too and that includes Zak Zinter, who is one of the best guards in all of college football.

Trevor Keegan isn’t far behind and is also on the list as are right-tackle candidates Karsen Barnhart and Trente Jones. Jones and Barnhart both started games last season. My expectation is that both see significant snaps this year. Hinton too.

The offensive line also has a number of other really talented players such as Greg Crippen who is battling at center and Giovanni El-Hadi who could start for just about anyone in the Big Ten at offensive guard.

According to Nagy, seven Michigan football offensive linemen could be drafted or signed as rookie free agents. That’s an absurd number and it’s why the offensive line is viewed as a Joe Moore award favorite once again.
