Michigan football all-time Lloyd Carr team, Tight end: Jerame Tuman

This is one decision that was easy. Jerame Tuman is the top tight end for Michigan football during the Carr era.

Tuman was an old-school tight end, meaning he was a really good blocker. He might have been as good at that as he was a receiver. That’s what kept him in the NFL with the Steelers for so long.

With the Wolverines, Tuman was one of the most productive tight ends in the history of the program. In 1996, Tuman caught 32 passes for 518 yards and five touchdowns. He had two seasons in which he averaged more than 15 yards per reception.

Tuman capped his career with three consecutive seasons with 27 receptions or more. He also won a national title and beat Ohio State three times. Tuman was picked in the fifth round of the NFL draft for the Steelers after 95 receptions and 12 touchdown catches at U-M.
