The Michigan football team is still pushing for a number of top-100 recruits.

Currently, Michigan football’s 2024 recruiting class has three commits ranked in the top 100 (per 247Sports). Those three are Jadyn Davis, Jordan Marshall, and Brady Prieskorn. Prieskorn was the most recent top 100 recruit to hop on board, but his commitment came in April, so it’s been a while.

However, there are still many top 100 recruits that the Michigan Wolverines are recruiting heavily and are in a solid position for. Along with that, I’d bet that by the end of the regular season the Wolverines will be making a push for a few new recruits as well.

Obviously, top-100 recruits are extremely important to success. While we’ve seen Michigan football develop non-top 100 recruits into superstars, it’s just easier to win with better recruits. Every school consistently at the top of college football proves that.

The Wolverines have put themselves into a good position with a handful of top 100 recruits, so without further ado, let’s look at who those recruits are.

5 Stars Justin Scott (DL) and Ryan Wingo (WR)

The lone five stars on this list, I’m grouping these two together because their recruitments are actually relatively similar from Michigan’s perspective.

Both made official visits during June, and both had a great time at Michigan. However, for Michigan football to land either of the two, they’ll have to get them on an unofficial visit during the season.

While the Wolverines made progress, they did not do enough on the official visits to feel comfortable.

For Scott, Miami and Georgia remain big threats while midwest opponents Notre Dame and Ohio State also fight for his services. If Scott and his family decide that distance doesn’t matter for the Chicago native, it’ll be very tough to overcome Miami. However, if the family has concerns about distance, Michigan could have a real opportunity to steal Scott.

The key here is turning this into a Midwest race. Michigan football likes its chances if it gets down to that, but that’s a huge if.

For Wingo, Ron Bellamy and the entire staff have made him a huge priority. While Georgia is the perceived favorite for the Missouri native, the Wolverines did a great job on his visit and have increased communication. With two wide receivers already committed and Jordan Shipp nearing a decision, Bellamy can devote more of his time to Wingo.

If Michigan football can get Wingo back on campus during the season, this could become interesting. However, Georgia is in a strong position right now, and it’s always tough to beat the Dawgs.
