Michigan Football recruiting: Top defensive targets trending to Wolverines
4-star Jacob Smith
The final prospect I’m going to talk about today is Jacob Smith. Ranked as the #211 player in the nation, Smith is the brother of current commit Jerod Smith. The two have talked a lot about playing together in college, and it seems like it is destined to happen.
Smith and his entire family love the Wolverines, and the Connecticut native is taking his official visit to Michigan on June 2nd. The staff (and probably his brother too) will look to close on Smith then.
Smith has been seen as a heavy Michigan lean ever since his brother Jerod committed at the end of April. There is no reason to believe that Smith will pick anyone besides Michigan, although a push from Georgia or Alabama, who made his top group, could make things interesting.
I’m expecting Smith to commit sooner rather than later.
Conclusion
The Wolverines are in a great position to close on some of their top defensive targets. They have tons of momentum on the trail and continue to fight to hold onto their spot at the top of the recruiting rankings.
A flurry of commits in June seems likely, and by the end of the month, we could see close to 25 players committed in the class. The Wolverines are doing phenomenal on the trail, so enjoy every moment of it!
