Five recruits that are candidates to be the next commitment for Michigan football in the 2024 recruiting class.

The Michigan football team doesn’t have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2024 anymore according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, but the class is still exceptional all the same.

It should only continue to get better too. With a number of top targets set to be on campus for official visits in the month of June, the Wolverines could still have a lot of fireworks over the summer.

While we are still a few weeks away from some of these June visits, here is a look at five candidates to be Michigan football’s next 2024 commitment.

Jacon Smith, EDGE (No. 211 overall)

The Wolverines have been trending as the favorite with four-star EDGE Jacob Smith. His brother Jerod is already committed to the Wolverines and the brothers will both be on campus for the weekend of June 2nd for official visits.

Nebraska is another team in the mix, however, Michigan football has taken control of this recruitment. This last visit will probably be the final hurdle. Both Smith brothers were projected to Notre Dame at one time, so for Mike Elston and the Wolverines to land both would be huge.

There is still work to do, but this would be a nice addition to the board at EDGE. Jacob Smith is 6-foot-4.5 and 230 pounds. He’s ranked 19th at this position in the 2024 class and you have to think Michigan’s history with producing EDGE rushers, in addition to his brother being committed, would give the Wolverines a chance to close this out soon after that June 2nd commitment.
