The latest on a couple of top targets for Michigan football, Justin Scott and also Gatlin Bair, who are each expected to take official visits in June.

When it comes to a pair of Michigan football’s top targets in the 2024 class, there is some good news and there is some bad news.

We’ll start with the bad news as five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott has just received an expert projection to land with Miami from Chad Simmons on On3.com.

Scott just announced that he would be taking four official visits, at least at this point, and Michigan football is one of the teams expected to get a visit, along with Miami, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Notre Dame was considered the favorite at one time, but Scott decided to delay his commitment until the summer. Official visits could play a role and things can still change, but as of right now, Michigan football fans should temper their optimism about Scott.

Scott is ranked 13th overall in the 2024 class and third among defensive tackles, as well as No. 1 in the state of Illinois. He hasn’t set a decision date yet.

Another key visitor for Michigan football

Gatlin Bair, the freakish athlete that just ran 10.15 in the 100-meter dash earlier this week in Idaho, has scheduled his official visit to Michigan football according to Zach Libby of The Wolverine.

Michigan landed Colston Loveland out of Idaho back in the 2022 class and the Wolverines have used that connection to try and land Bair, who is ranked 91st overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Bair is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver, and imagining him taking the top of the defense in a winged helmet makes my mouth water.

Nebraska is another team in the mix along with Oregon, Boise State, and TCU, which each made the cut for his top five. Nebraska got an expert projection from Sean Callahan of Husker Online but Michigan football is getting Bair to visit on June 23rd.

That’s when Nebraska is having its big weekend and I figured Matt Rhule would be aiming to get Bair on campus by then. That doesn’t mean Michigan is going to win out, but if it gets the last visit, it certainly can’t hurt.

Either way, Michigan football is right in the thick of things with Bair, and with his incredible talent, that’s a really exciting thought heading into the summer.
